Portland’s Community Ceramics Studio

The Mud Room is a community-centered pottery studio in Portland where creativity, clay, and connection come together. We work to increase access to ceramics by providing a clean, beautiful, and welcoming ceramic studio for our community. From members-only social events to the friendly faces you’ll meet at the wheel, community is at the heart of everything we do.

We keep ceramics accessible by offering work-trade opportunities and a sliding-scale membership program. Our studios are kind, respectful spaces where saying hello to your fellow ceramicists is part of the culture. You’ll always find the studio clean and well cared for, thanks in large part to the people who use and love the space.

The Mud Room operates two fully equipped pottery studio locations in Southeast Portland and North Portland. Members enjoy 24/7 access to their chosen studio with a secure personal entry code. Students can join us through classes and workshops, and teams and friends can join us with group events.

We pride ourselves on working with incredible teachers who share the joy of clay through kind, supportive, and down-to-earth instruction. Our instructors make ceramics classes accessible, encouraging, and fun because we truly believe everyone is creative.

Our rotating schedule of pottery classes updates every six weeks and always includes beginner offerings. You’ll find wheel-throwing courses, one-time “Try It” sessions, focused workshops, and a steady mix of new classes. We are proud to be a part of Portland's ceramic community since 2019.
