$420.00

This is a once-per-week course that lasts for 10 weeks held at The Mud Room North.

This class is perfect for those who are comfortable centering, opening a pot and throwing basic forms but want to take their skills to the next level! We will focus on throwing larger and more complex forms and learning new techniques. From making lids and spouts to adding texture to your pots, we’ll take a deep dive into more advanced techniques with lots of personalized instruction to help you evolve beyond your current skill level.

Class is every Sunday from 4-6:30 PM at The Mud Room North: 1831 N Killingsworth Ave, Suite D.

Dates: May 26th- July 28th

Before signing up, we encourage you to make sure that you can make it to every class. We have found that learning pottery with a teacher present yields the best student outcomes. More good habits and fewer bad ones. Our class model has twice-weekly sessions and no open studio—we emphasize hands-on instruction to help you really learn. Our teachers are there for you!

This class is taught by Mo Houser

A bit about Mo:

Mo was born and raised in the small town of Forest Grove, Oregon. She makes all types of functional ware for farmer’s markets during the summer and is a substitute teacher for all subjects during the winter. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sustainable Design with a Minor in Art History from Pacific University. Mo took her first pottery class in 2015. In 2020, ceramics became her COVID hobby and she further refined her skills.  Mo currently practices in her home studio, focusing on throwing large bowls and vases, as well as the ideal, functional mug.

Mo is very knowledgeable and her teaching style is laid back and relaxed. Her classes provide hands-on assistance while still allowing you to engage in a productive struggle to find your own best ways of working with clay.

Cost: $395 + $25 for your first bag of clay.

Other Fees: Extra clay if you need it is between $13 and $25/bag. Firing is at no extra cost to students.

Cancellation Policy: Please let us know 2 weeks in advance of your class if you’d like to cancel. If you cancel with fewer than 14 days left, unfortunately, we cannot give a refund. If you have to miss class due to COVID we are not able to offer refunds or credits. If your teacher has to miss class due to COVID or otherwise, we will do our best to find a substitute teacher. If there is no substitute teacher available we will reschedule the class for a later date.
